Nail-Biting Habit Hypnosis
An onychophagiaist is someone who habitually bites his or her nails. Yes, it is usually thought of as a kid problem. But for many adults, nail-biting is so well-established that they barely realize they are doing it.
The problem? Nail-biting looks bad to others. People see a nail biter as nervous and unsure of themselves. Plus in this germ-conscious world, no one wants to shake hands with someone who’s just put his or her fingers in their mouth. As a former nail-biter myself, I know exactly what you are going through.
Sadly, nail biting is often a very difficult habit to break for adults.
As a hypnotherapist, I treat nail biting as a sign of stress and nervousness that has the added dimension of being a habit that provides emotional relief. It apporach nail biting in a manner similar to my stop smoking program. Remove the desire to bite one’s nails by addressing the root cause (nervousness and tension). Then hypnotize the nail biter to feel generally calmer and more confident. The nail biting habit is hypnotically removed and a new positive habit is inserted as a replacement. .
I typically help nail biters become free in 2-3 sessions. The sessions are relaxing and can also make a difference in the client’s overall sense of confidence and well-being.
My clients have ranged from teenagers to people in their 60s and beyond. All have one thing in common: they are sick of looking like nervous wrecks and crave a more relaxed way of being.
As a former nail-biter myself (the kind whose fingers would bleed sometimes), I have an understanding of the issue and its correction. Give me a call today and schedule a celebratory manicure for next month.
