My Own Worry Story
I find as a hypnotist that I am most effective at helping people overcome issues that I myself have faced and overcome.
One of these is the worry habit. Truth is I come from a long line of worriers –people in my family worried about financial problems, health issues, relationship and career issues. As a youngster, I assumed it was normal to worry about the future because that is what I saw around me. I worried about my place in the world – whether I would ever be a success in life – whether I would ever find somebody to love me and to love. It was not a fun way to live.
In this state of stress, the “fight or flight” response generates a series of hormones like cortisol, adrenaline and noradrenalin that create a sense of distress they can have physical consequences. And I accepted this way of “living” as normal for many years in my early life.
The habit of sleepless night, racing heart and palpitations can not only rob us of the joy of living but literally end up shortening a life itself.
About the time I was 28 I ran across a remarkable book that literally change my life. It’s an old book written in the 1950s; but the lessons it taught me are priceless and timeless. The title was “How to stop worrying and start living” and I have incorporated its philosophies into my life for many years.
It gave me important ideas such as the wisdom of living in what the author called “daytight” compartments, urgency to solve problems by analyzing and them and then getting into action to solve them, the value of forgiveness and many other core concepts. I refined these ideas through a lifetime of study in many different healing disciplines and I can confidently say that I can help you get over Your Worry Habit and start living a more peaceful and productive life. I’m not saying that I do it perfectly myself: in fact I am sure that no one has including me. Breaking the worry habit for most people is a lifetime journey. But I can say I am no longer a “worrier” -- I generally live with a degree of peace and at times even serenity.
